JUNCTION CITY RESIDENCE
Junction City, Oregon - Ongoing

The Peterson home and artist studio shares a gentle sloping forested site. The form is governed by two sweeping steel pipe beams which run the length of the structure and support an array of radial glue-laminated beams that float above the structure. Laid out to take advantage of the southern exposure, the large cantilevered upsweeping roof allows plenty of sunlight to penetrate the living spaces during winter months when the sun angle is low, while blocking the sun in summer time. The material pallet of concrete, wood and steel flows in and out of the house creating a seamless sense of interior and exterior spaces.
